Pre-Reading Blog #1

Here you are in college. How's that working out for you? Consider your educational experience to this point. What are your impressions of education? What do you seek to gain from education? Have you enjoyed your educational experience through high school? Why or why not?

Here I am in college, half way through my fourth year and still have a long ways to go. College is a lot different that what I thought it would be when I was in high school. In high school I thought that college was pretty much going to be the same thing as high school, go to school during the day working afterwards and doing most of your work at school but that isn't how it is. Like many other college students I am working as much as I can while taking as many classes that I can. With working full time and going to school full time I have hardly any time to just relax.
I believe that education is something that people in this country hold high, the more education someone has the better chance of getting a good job which leads to higher pay which leads to bigger and more things. Education to me is going to school to learn more things about what I want to do. I am going to school to learn about early childhood education, the way children act, learn, play and behave.
While doing this blog a question came to my mind, why do we go through school, and why is education held up so high? Also was education always this important through history or was it just another thing.

Rationalism- the belief that thought and action should be reasoned
Anti-Rationalism- the belief that thought and action arn't reasoned
Fundamentalism- the beliefs of this movement, adherence to such beliefs.
